Third-party maintenance (TPM) is a contracted hardware and service support solution for servers, storage and network equipment that are typically out of warranty or end-of-life (EOL) with the OEM. Third-party maintenance is an alternative to traditional Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty and post-warranty support.

Most vendors and manufacturers provide standard warranty (usually 1-3 years) on IT equipment purchased. However, IT equipment are meant to last much longer than that (up-to 7-10 years), and you may find yourself having IT assets that are no longer covered by the standard warranty.
